The Raper from Passenack

I chose to write about The Raper from Passenack by William Carlos Williams because of its poignancy and language. This poem is about a female that was raped. The only reason why I say female is because it could be a young girl or an older woman that was raped. Each word and the language that is used is arranged as a conversation between the poet and the audience. The funny thing that I have never seen before is when the poem begins with the title as the first line. This poem perfectly describes the feelings of hate, regret, and frustation after being raped. The female is worrying about what happened because she fainted. She worries of contracting a disease, getting pregnant and dying. The poignancy in the line "But if i get a venereal infection out of this I won't be treated. I refuse." There are such strong feelings in that line stating that she would rather die than live her life knowing that she got this disease by a man that raped her.
